Anyone downtown today should head over to the Dequindre Cut Greenway between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to catch live music on the Riverfront, free Cottage Inn pizza at Lafayette and St. Aubin streets and cooking demonstrations and tastings at Eastern Market.

All the festivities are set up to celebrate the official reopening of the Dequindre Cut Greenway, a railroad-line-turned-bike-path that runs parallel to St. Aubin Street, between Mack Avenue and Woodbridge Street just north of the Riverfront.

According to the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, this is just the first phase of a greenway that should extend from Gratiot Avenue to Mack Avenue.

More festivities include hotdogs at the RiverWalk Cafe, face painting and magic near Lafayette Street and stage performances at the Woodbridge Street entrance of the greenway including the Detroit Academy of Arts & Sciences Performing Choir and Dance Troupe and the Woodward Academy and Benjamin Mays Academy Step Teams.

Go to the Riverfront Conservancy’s Web site for more information.
