Motown stars auction off musical goods for charity
One lucky budding singer has the chance to get a private lesson from the Queen of Soul herself in New York City. All it costs is $5,500 — that is, until the next person outbids you.
Aretha Franklin is joining countless other celebs in an auction to raise money for the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. Bidding opened April 29 and Ends May 28. As of today, the singing lesson with the Motown legend has just one bid of $5,000, according to charitybuzz.com.
Fellow Detroit-native Stevie Wonder also is contributing to the auction by putting a signed and used harmonica up for bid. It has six bids and the current one is $550.
Other high-profile items up for auction are a backstage meeting with Oprah going for $27,500 and a private swimming lesson with Michael Phelps currently priced at $1,950.
